Miraculous Healing of Back from Spina Bifida, Spondylosis, and Spondylolisthesis

Michael, an intern at CHR, shares about his miraculous healing from 3 incurable back conditions.  This miracle occurred more than 20 years ago.  As you read this, believe that what God did for Michael, He desires to do for you today!

Michael shares: “The doctor explained that since the bone was no longer growing I would have to be refitted for a full-body back brace every year for the rest of my life. I was only ten years old when I was told this; I had already spent several months lying on the floor of my home watching television and missing the beginning of the 5th grade. I rarely made my way around, except to feed myself or go to the doctors. I remember how excruciating the pain was going over the speed bumps in the car.

I had been born with spina bifida, which exposes spinal nerves due to incomplete bone growth, and developed spondylosis (degeneration of the spine) and spondylolisthesis (slippage of the disc). These conditions were centralized on the L5 disc of my lower back and produced continual dull pain that became sharp with the slightest movement. I attempted to attend school for a few days while wearing the brace to learn, but I could not.  I had to lie on the floor to avoid the terrible pain. Because of this, I missed the entirety of the 5th grade and had to have a tutor come to my home.

At that time I began to attend countless church services and healing conferences alongside many hopeful believers.  I saw others healed, while I continued in my sickness and pain. Through this I began to learn the Word of God and about the compassionate nature of the person of Jesus Christ, which gave me the boldness to begin to pray for others. In spite of my physical condition, my mother and I believed the Lord repeating Psalms 34:19-20 regularly. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all.  He protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken.

After a year of prayer and no hope except for my Lord, I attended another healing service in Anaheim. The night ended with another disappointment, as I did not get healed then and there. Because my heart was still opened for God to heal me, I was determined to continue to have faith in God. This is when I heard from the Holy Spirit. Without words I suddenly knew that I had to fast meat for thirty days. At the end of thirty days the Passover occurred. I dedicated myself to the Lord that night and celebrated the Passover with communion. The Lord had healed me (sometime during the fast and the celebration of Passover with communion), but I did not even know it, because the pain was still prevalent in my body from all the inflammation.

Soon after that I went for my scheduled X-rays which I had every 8 weeks.  This X-ray, unlike all the others, showed that the bones in my low back where there was a hole or space because of the spina bifida were now miraculously filled in and the nerves were no longer exposed. Originally, I was told that the bone in this area would never grow again.  Also, there was no longer any spondylosis and spondylolisthesis; the bones were miraculously in place.

My doctor, clearly perplexed, explained that the problem had self-corrected. My mother, who had nearly prayed with me daily, was quick to explain that we had received a miracle from Jesus. The doctor left the room continuing to use the word “self-correct” for three conditions which are incurable. After a month or two the inflammation subsided and I returned to school to attend the 6th grade.

As a ten year old boy I could lift no more than 20 lbs. Today, at age 33, I am the person that everyone finds when they need something heavy moved at work. I mean heavy, like machines in excess of 400 lbs. I am so happy to be the strong person that I always wanted to be as a child.

God is so amazing and so good!  Now looking back, I am happy that God did not respond to my very first request to be healed, because I have come to know Him and His Word and have seen many more miracles throughout the years.

We think of miraculous healings as rare supernatural occurrences, but they are simply God’s goodness and wisdom received.  I am healed by the grace of Jesus Christ.

I encourage you not to give-up, but keep pressing in faith, believing his Word and take your eyes off yourself often to see those around you. That is the best thing I can tell you.”
