There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18
The most repeated command spoken by God to His children throughout the Bible is “Do not fear!” You may have heard this before, but are you taking heed? Or, is your life being driven by fear?
When fear comes knocking at your door, why does God tell you not to be afraid? Because fear is not God’s will or His way for your life. God created Adam and Eve, the beginning of the human race, in His image and likeness – in the image and likeness of love. However, the lives of Adam and Eve and their descendants were drastically changed, when they chose the “fear-filled” words of satan over and above the “love-filled” Words of God.
The moment they came into agreement with satan’s fear-provoking suggestions, his lies, the spirit of fear consumed their hearts. When God asked Adam, “Where are you?” Adam replied, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” Genesis 3:9-10 When you realize that the root cause of every fear is a lie, a lie from satan, you can apply the antidote to each and every fear you face. What is the antidote? It is God’s love – His love-filled Words – His Truth.
When you realize that the root cause of every fear is a lie, a lie from satan, you can apply the antidote to each and every fear you face.
As a born again believer, fear no longer has to rule over your life, because you have been given a new spirit – the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ – the Spirit of “power, love, and a sound mind”. 2 Tim. 1:7 Allow Jesus Christ, the One who redeemed you, to answer every fear that knocks at the door of your heart. Allow His perfect love to “cast out fear, because fear involves torment”. (1 John 4:18)
Make a quality decision like King David did in Psalm 27 to declare: “I will not fear! I will trust God! I will seek His face and dwell in His presence!” Once you have made the decision, begin to offer sacrifices of joy, singing praises to the Lord, before you even see God’s promises fulfilled in your life. (Ps. 27:6) Believe that you will see “the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” (Ps. 27: 13)
