… While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
Fear and love originate from two different worlds – two different kingdoms. They are so incompatible with one another that they cannot exist within the same time or space. Fear originates from the kingdom of darkness and it gives you that feeling of impending evil or danger. Love, on the other hand, originates from God’s kingdom and it gives you that feeling that everything will be all right.
Often, when it comes to fear, it is hard to distinguish between a threat that is real or imagined. I will never forget when my husband and I were driving one day and he asked me if I knew what the consecutive white-striped painted lines were that crossed the main roadway, as we entered and exited some of the smaller towns. Perhaps, you would respond like I did that day, “I have no idea.”
He explained that these lines create a virtual reality for the cattle, making them think that it is a real cattle grid, when it is not. They could easily cross over these white painted lines, but because they lack the depth perception needed to distinguish between the two, they are afraid to cross over. In essence, they are tricked into staying within the boundaries of its owner, because they lack the capacity to go beyond their instincts.
F.E.A.R. is any temporal evidence that contradicts the eternal Word of God, especially the eternal evidence of what Jesus Christ has already done for us through His victorious work of the cross.
From the beginning of time, satan has corralled mankind into his kingdom of darkness with his lies, his False Evidence Appearing Real = F.E.A.R. His fear driven half-truths have held people imprisoned behind his “consecutive white-striped painted lines”- F.E.A.R. According to the Bible, especially the New Covenant, what is the “False Evidence Appearing Real”? F.E.A.R. is any temporal evidence that contradicts the eternal Word of God, especially the eternal evidence of what Jesus Christ has already done for us through His victorious work of the cross.
If you find yourself living in a place of fear and having difficulty crossing over the boundary lines of the F.E.A.R. that has limited your life, it is time for you to upgrade your spiritual “depth perception” about Who God truly is, as your Savior and good heavenly Father, and who you are in Jesus Christ. How do you do this? By making your top priority in life to “dwell in the house of the Lord… beholding His beauty and inquiring in His temple… and singing praises to the Lord.” (Ps. 27:4,6) If you make this “one thing” your highest pursuit just like King David did, your confidence in the eternal reality of God will empower you to walk across the “white-striped painted lines” of F.E.A.R. and into God’s Kingdom of love.
