And Jesus said, “You are the light of the world…. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
At the end of our Christmas Eve church service every year, we step outside with a small candle in our hands. Then, from one lighted candle everyone else’s candle is lit, creating a beautiful expression of how the light of Christ can easily spread.
When Jesus walked on this earth, He not only declared, “I am the light of the world,” but He turned to His disciples, lit up their lives, and then declared “You are the light of the world.” (John 8:12; Matt. 5:14) As a disciple of Jesus Christ, are you walking in your God-given identity as “the light of the world”?
When the Holy Spirit lights up your heart with His ideas and simple assignments to reach your neighbors and the world around you, “let your light shine before men” by acting on these directives from the Spirit rather than hiding your light under a basket of excuses.
As a disciple of Jesus Christ, are you walking in your God-given identity as “the light of the world”?
For 40 years Yudit ardently followed the New Age movement, until the Light emanating from Jesus’ Word pierced her heart this past April. For the first time she heard and accepted Jesus’ declaration about Himself, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6), receiving Jesus Christ into her heart as her personal Savior and Lord. Since then, she has experienced the tangible presence and power of God, which has affirmed to her the superior reality of Jesus Christ.
During the celebration of Camarillo Healing Room’s 13th anniversary at the end of October, she shared her testimony about her conversion to Jesus Christ, her diagnosis of 4th stage cancer, and how her pain would disappear or be significantly reduced every time she would come to the healing rooms for the past few months. Everyone present stretched forth their hands and prayed for her, followed by several prayer teams. When she arrived home, her daughter greeted her and exclaimed, “You are glowing”. After that Yudit went to her room and sat on the edge of her bed for about an hour, experiencing the power of God flowing over and through her body.
Several weeks ago, she presented her idea – God’s idea – of having the Camarillo Healing Rooms come to the park next door to her to pray for those who need God’s healing touch or who have any other need, calling it “Light Up Your Life with Christ.” She desired that those who would not normally come to a church, could not only hear about Jesus Christ, the One Who is the Light of the World, but have their lives set ablaze by Him through encountering His presence and power.
To help you follow through on the ideas and directives the Holy Spirit gives to you, boldly declare: “I am the light of the world… I will let my light so shine before men, so that they may see the works of Jesus Christ and give glory to my Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
