Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free… Galatians 5:1
Today in America, as we celebrate the freedom won for our nation and its citizens, let us remember all those who have sacrificed their lives in obtaining, maintaining, and pressing into this freedom for every American.
Also, let us remember the ultimate freedom Jesus Christ has purchased for every person in this world through His sacrificial victorious work on the cross for the fulness of our salvation.
God’s Word Translation puts Galatians 5:1 like this: “Christ has freed us so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom.”
Christ has freed us so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom.
What are your “benefits of freedom”? King David exhorts us in Psalm 103: 1-5 lists these benefits as the forgiveness of all our sins, the healing of all our diseases, the redemption of our life from destruction, and the crowning of our life with lovingkindness and tender mercies, and the satisfaction of our mouth with good things.
To enjoy these benefits of freedom you need to speak to your soul like King David, reminding yourself to “forget not all His benefits”. When you do this, allowing your renewed spirit to speak to your soul (your mind, will, and emotions) you will discover that you are able to “stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made us free.” (Galatians 5:1)
Stand fast in your blood bought salvation in Christ Jesus!
Stand fast in your salvation that you have obtained by faith in God’s grace and not by your deeds!
Stand fast in the all the benefits of freedom that belong to you in Christ Jesus from every sin, every sickness, and every form of destruction!
