In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us… John 1:1,14
You were always meant to experience the living reality of God’s Word, the very essence of Who God is. John 1:14 declares, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” After dwelling among us, The Word went to the cross, so you and I could experience a new Word for our lives – A “Word” that supersedes all other words. “The Word” that supersedes the word of the world; “The Word” that supersedes the word of the flesh; and “The Word” that supersedes the word of the devil. What is that Word? Jesus.
Receive the superior reality of God’s Word for humanity. Allow God’s Word to resound in your heart and mind and to be “fleshed-out” in your life. Don’t accept the inferior words from the “Goliaths” who cry out incessantly for your defeat and the defeat of those around you.
How can you experience the living reality of God’s Word? John 15:7 gives you the answer. By abiding in Jesus, God’s Word, and having God’s Words abide in you. The core activity of abiding as described in John 15:7 involves talking with Jesus, Who is a real person and Who is present to talk with you anytime you desire to talk with Him. Jesus says, “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore.” (Rev. 1:18)
What are you to talk about with Jesus? God’s Word. You are to listen to what God is saying to you through His Word, then speak His Words back to Him. (Hosea14:2) Prayer, talking with God, becomes enjoyable and powerful, when you use God’s Word as the centerpiece for your conversations.

God’s Words, every one of them, is a call for you to either believe it or obey it.
Believe God’s Word If God’s Word is calling you to believe His promise, thank God out loud for that promise. For instance: 1 Peter 2:24 “By His stripes you were healed” is a promise to believe. Personalize it and say, “Thank-You for this promise. Thank-You that I was healed by the stripes Jesus’ bore for me.” Next, ask God’s help to reveal more to you about that specific Word.
Obey God’s Word If God’s Word is calling you to obey, commit yourself to obey His exhortation. For example: John 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you…” is an exhortation to obey. Personalize it, making a declaration of your intent to obey it. Example: “I set my heart to abide in You and to have Your Words abide in me..” Next, ask God to give you the wisdom, motivation, and power to obey that specific Word.
When I learned how to “pray-read” the Word of God, as described above, His Word not only began to shape who I am – how I thought, felt, and acted; but, it set me on a life-time journey of experiencing the living reality of God’s Word. You too were meant to experience the living reality of God’s Word. Begin this wonderful journey by talking with God – “Prayer-Reading” God’s Word! You will never regret it!
