My son, give attention to my words. Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:20-22
With all the ongoing struggles you may be facing in your health, finances, family, relationships, and career along with the added pressures from all the other crises happening worldwide, it is easy to fall into the trap of watching a dark narrative play out within the theater of your mind. Some of you may have watched certain scenes of these movies so often that they are actually affecting your life – what you are believing, acting upon, and experiencing.
As God’s beloved child, it’s time to classify these ungodly movies, which completely contradict God’s Word and have been leaving you feeling afraid and hopeless as X-rated. Forbid yourself from even looking at the previews of these films, which highlight scenes of what it might look like when the enemy’s plans of stealing, killing, and destroying your life prevail.
God says, “My son, give attention to my words.” The climax of God’s Word, His love story for your life, is Jesus and His victorious work of the cross. (see Isaiah 53:1-5; Ps. 103:3-5) The more you behold the beauty of Jesus Christ, the Word of God, the more you will be able to see God’s beauty narrative for your own life and be transformed by its inherent power. (2 Cor. 3:18)
As you take God’s medicine, God’s Word, you will be able to see and experience life through the beauty lens of heaven and not through the darkened lens of hell.
Beholding God’s Word involves allowing it to flow into your eye and ear gates until it penetrates the depths of your heart, enabling you to experience the life of the resurrected Christ and His health in your whole being. (Prov. 4:21-22) The Hebrew word for health literally means medicine. If your health has been suffering, listen to the words of your Great Physician, Jehovah Rapha. (Ex. 15:26) He has prescribed the perfect medicine – His Words – for you to overcome anything that you are facing.
Take God’s medicine as prescribed in Proverbs 4:20-22:
- Give attention to God’s Word.
- Incline your ears to God’s Word.
- Don’t let God’s Word depart from your eyes.
- Keep God’s Word in the midst of your heart.
As you take God’s medicine, God’s Word, you will be able to see and experience life through the beauty lens of heaven, through the blood of the Lamb, and not through the darkened lens of hell. You will be able to have 20/20 vision of Who Jesus Christ is and Who You are in Christ. You will be able to see that Jesus’ victory is your victory – that Jesus’ story is your story now and forevermore.
